Whether we like it or not, confidence is something we have to grow and nourish; just like a flower, everyday you have to water it, feed it and let it have the right amount of sunshine. Some days you might forget to bring it in from the rain, so it could look fragile and withered so that just means you have to take better care of it, nature and love it and protect it from any negative influences. That flower symbolises your inner confidence, you have to protect, nourish and healthy grow it and ignore any negative energy – and it’s normal to have off day’s that’s life, and if you need to be confident in a jiffy you can fake it until you make it !
This was my number one rule starting highschool, from being homeschooled for 2 years then going back to a “normal” school was extremely nerve-wracking, this when I learnt how to fake confidence! Some days proved to be very, very difficult, then finally at the end of the long journey of year 8 I found my friendship group ( still 7 years strong 😉 ). The next year was a year of changes, I stopped relying on people’s perception of me and became a better person for it ! when i let that go I started to focus on myself, and how to make myself feel and look good making me radiant confidence.
So I alway carried a beauty bag, this had everything from gloss to scent. It was simply perfect, silly as it sounds but having that beauty bag in my blue carry bag made me feel like it was my own superpower!
So here it is, my powerful beauty bag must;
I still swear by these products and love them with all my heart as they hold a special memory for me. Now to the behind the scenes hacks and tips for feeling groovy and to build that self-confidence !
Have no fear you don’t have to race out and buy some expensive teeth whitening gel, in fact you can just use some good old trusted ingredients and a record-breaking toothpaste. Your teeth are your pearly treasures so treat them right, using these hash whitening treatments can strip your enamel leaving your teeth weak and sensitive. So for an alternative I like to use Colgate crystal white toothpaste, it’s is truly amazing ! and to top that off oil pulling is fantastic – and it actually works ! So either in the morning or night take a spoon full of coconut oil and rinse your mouth for 30 seconds.
Moisterisor / self tanner.
Wave good-bye to dry, cracked and ashy skin and say hello to a daily moisturizer – these lifesavers can range from 10 – 20 $, depending on where you buy them and what they contain. When you’re finding your perfect match find one that has a spf value and one that is enriched with oils to penetrate into the skin and protect. Personally, nothing makes me feel even better about myself then a little glow; this is when I turn to gradual tanners. It’s perfect for anyone busy because it cuts out the waiting and prepping time for a tan. My no. 1 moisturizer is dove’s Daily glow, the smell alone takes you to the perfect summer day with a perfect coconut drink ! it gives you the perfect instant glow, that isn’t sticky and there absolutely no mess!
I love that fresh smooth feeling, so a great shaver is no. 1! before you shave it’s important to give your body a quick exfoliation; the best technique is to wet you lather and rub in an upward motion. This would be one of my favourite tips to give, because the problem with scrubbing in a circular motion is that it will confuse your hairs and most likely cause more ingrowns. Now to single razors these are perfect for peach fuze, side burns and mono brows, you can buy them on eBay and they are a piece of cake to use ! if you have time waxing is great, I recommend going to a professional if you doing your bikini – trust me guys! for rookies I say go and buy some strip wax, I’ll have the look below – i use these all the time and I’m in love with them!
Scars or red abrasions
I was born was a heart condition which resulted in 8 surgeries ( 5 as a baby and 3 in 2009), I’m honoured to have had the pleasure of meeting so many wonderful nurses and doctors that have tremendously influenced my life for the better. However during highschool I wanted to cover it up, luckily the uniform covered it up perfectly but for the night I went out i would cover it in concealer then pat it with banana powder then finally my foundation. At night I would massage in vitamin E oil. Now im happily confident with my scar and couldn’t care less if it’s clearly seen, at the end of the day do you !
Perfume and deodorant.
deodorant can be so underrated sometimes, but it’s something we all need ~it’s true, sometimes Kings and Queens perspire! After you have you wash feel free to layer it on, and like skin care find one that works for you and your personal and unique body. then it’s that all important perfume ! you want to find something perfect for you, now it’s time to think what am I about or what should my perfume say about me ? my personal favourite is Mariah Carey forever, Gucci guilty and for something sweet I’m loving pink sugar. fear not, perfumes shouldn’t break the bank, if you find you perfect perfume but at a not so perfect price hop on to eBay and search it up and get it in a 15ml spay bottle – trust me it’s a killer deal!
I hop you loved this post, I’m really passionate about people feeling fierce and confident, and remember it’s okay to have some dull days 🙂 here are just some tips, feel free to comment what you do to feel more confident and let’s build each other up ❤
have a beautiful day lovelies

Welcome to the first part of the two-part blog all about your skin, so lay back and take in all the carefully crafted information designed to make you understand and to really get to know you face!
In today’s world we are constantly bombarded with products that are promising a whole range of miraculous results in exchange for some hefty coin! So how do we decide what’s actually right for us and not just a product that’s going to end up at the back of our bathroom cabinet gathering dust?
This post is all about shining the light on the importance of knowing what’s right for your skin, identifying the difference between types and conditions of the skin, and lastly showing you a rough guide on what skin care is best for you!
First thing first, skin conditions and types; so what’s the difference ? Simply put your skin type is what you were born with, you can always care and controlled it but it won’t go away. Opposed to your skin condition, that’s a result of eternal and internal influences, for example; hormonal changes, weather, medications, and importantly the misuse of your skin car ( over-exfoliating or using irritating/drying cleansers and toners).
To make things a little clearer, Look below !
Focus: There’s no rest for the wicked, having normal skin means you can afford to be relaxed about your skin care but that doesn’t mean totally forget about it! Think about it like how a squirrel stores enough food to last the winter in the summer; what we want to do is care and treat our skin to make sure you we’ll be looking as flawless like Cher when we’re in our 70’s! So daily hydration is key, both applied on the skin and to be drunken. Secondly exfoliation, when you have normal skin it’s easy to forget about this one – but it’s very, very import! You want to remove dead, dirty, dry skin to bring a fresh, new glow to your face. This will also eliminate any radical break outs from happening. Then lastly moisturiser containing a SPF50+, this will nourish your skin as well as giving it some protection.
Focus: The key to skin care if you have oily skin is to not to totally strip your skin from it’s natural oils; this will actually send your glands into over drive! So what you would like to do is develop a skin care range that will be centred on drawing and unclogging pores (super oily skin = clogged pores = acne or break out!) and then replenishing the skin with good oils. And that’s the key to this skin type, so have no fear there’s so much on offer for you, just need to look and test out what works for you – for more help have a little look below at the guide!
Focus: PROPERLY BUFF, DAILY HYDRATION AND SERUMS! So first thing, buff; you want to carefully exfoliate your skin once or twice a week, look for a gentle chemical exfoliate – this will help removes dry, flaky skin and will help initiate further cell renewal = you’ll have bright, beaming skin because of this! Secondly hydration, you want to be putting on daily moisturizer, and because you have already exfoliated your skin, the moisturizer can easily penetrate into the dermis layers. Then it’s the all-important serum, serums contain very small molecules, which have a high concentration of active ingredients that can target specific skin concerns, such as fine lines, wrinkles, or age spots! The best serum for dry skin is finding a serum, which contains vitamin E serums, can either applied before or after moisturiser! Also a tip, avoid any harsh cleanses that will strip your skin of it’s natural oils, making it your face red, dry (flaky) and sensitive.
Focus: when it comes to finding your perfect match when you have combination skin can prove to be dificult; it can feel like you’re shopping for two different people; however hopefully after reading this you’ll feel more at ease and ready to tak on your skincare! The best thing to do overall is to not use anything that will strip your face of it’s natural oils, this will only make your glands into overdrive then you’ll be having another issue o your hands ! Secondly, do not cover or layer your face with thick creams or use any abrasive exfoliators. For cleansers, choose a water-soluble cleanser; this will gently remove all impurities without leaving your skin feeling tight or irritated. When it comes to exfoliators, BHA is the way to go! BHA our great for sensitive or combination skin, it gently sheds your skin. And as always you should always spend time applying some moisturizer and a sunscreen 50 +!
I. Smoking or some medication.
III. Inappropriate misuse of products.
|Sun Damage/ Hyperpigmentation
I. Melisma will start to appear as a hormonal imbalance or influx in the body, this can be seen among woman who are expecting.
II. Sunspots or lenities in Latin, these spots present themselves on over exposure of the body such as hands, sides of face from driving or just general sun damage from not using sunscreen.
What should you and shouldn’t you look for in your skin care.
So what are parabens used for? Well they are synthetic compounds which have the sole purpose to be a preservative for lotions, concealers, moisturizer and various other beauty potions! And really preservatives are amazing, without them our make up would go rancid quickly and we’ll end of buying more every week – so what’s the problem and why are we so against parabens !?
Before studying beauty I believed that skin care only goes skin deep, and that there was absolutely no connection to our inner health ( hormones etc); I mean how could it we’re just applying it to outer most layer of our skin. Well that theory went completely out the window, and yes there is a connection; and this is why everybody is up in arms about parabens ! So imagine your daily skin care regime over the decade, our body naturally synthesis the good and bad, good being if you apply face oils and the bad being if you have used a product containing parabens.
Further evidence to support this was published in 2004 by CSC, then in 2017 reinstated by Scientific America published ” Should people be concerned about parabens in beauty products”. They perfectly highlight the link between how whatever we put on our skin will be invertibly absorbed into our body’s one way on another. Parabens being the focus were linked to various hormonal issues (specifically effecting estrogen); the serious one being breast cancer.
So in 2004 a study was preformed examining breast tissue of women which have breast cancer; The results concluded that out of 20 women, 19 of them had been screened positive for small traces of parabens. As this is a small study there needs to be more in depth research into it, because women do occupy a large proportion of our beauty world!
“this study is important because it was the first to detected the presence of intact parabens—unaltered by the body’s metabolism—which is an indication of the chemical’s ability to penetrate skin and remain in breast tissue.” (Scientific America, 2017)
In 2012 the European Union put a ban on all containing parabens, which was a ginormous leap forward, one that should be internationally recognised (Scientific America, 2017). Going into the future we need to make parabens an ingredient of the past, although research is limited there is sufficiant evidence proving they are negatively influencing our hormones which then impact our reproductive , immunological, and neurological systems. For more information you can look up breast cancer action list for over 100 cosmetics.
Simply, fragrance irritates our skin, bringing up dermatitis as well as other skin issues – this is not a great idea as your face is very delicate and any irritation can lead to signs of wrinkles (Cunningham, 2018). Yes, the smell is heavenly but lets choose soothing that has no fragrace or one has natural derivitive scents.
It’s full name is sodium lauryl sulphate, it’s a common ingredient in any face wash or cleansers; oh and also found in any cleaning product ! Sulphates are reason behind why some skincare products form and bubble, leaving your skin feeling tight. So have a look at what’s inside your cleansers nor, because would you dare use garage cleaner as your skin cleanser ? Not to mention, the harshness of sulphates strips your skin from its natural nutrients and oils, which can lead to the following;
Large exfoliant granules.
When it comes to exfoliants they are categorised into two groups; chemical and physical.
Chemical exfoliants come in two forms; AHA (alpha-hydroxide acids) or BHA (beta-hydroxyl acid). Common ones are lactic, glycollic and salicylic acid. The benefits of a chemical exfoliate are numerous, these acids/ enzymes sink deep into your skins layers safely exfoliation with no harsh scrubbing.
Physical exfoliants are great at stimulated blood circulation (perfect for reducing puffiness and may aid in lymph node drainage). The granules give you a quick and clean feel, steadily increasing the rate at exfoliation. Carefully look into a physical exfoliant to see if it’s right for your skin, or if the the exfoliant is the right size and will work. choosing the wrong one on you face could lead to you have minor cuts on your face, which will lead to bacteria entering = breakouts, puffiness, redness and other induced conditions. All of which is preventable, for more help look below at the grid!
Emollients are key to any brilliant moisturizer on the market – its cream application allows it to sink into your skin making a soft, youthful glow to an appearance while altogether helping to prevent further signs of ageing.
A surfactant is just that, a surface-active agent. So they are added to oil, water and other liquids to break up the tension in the surface layer – this is an essential ingredient in cleansers alike to safely cleanse the skin from dirt, oil and debris from the day.
Chemical exfoliates can either come in the physical form (beads) or chemical (acid, overall chemicals work well as an exfoliant. The reason for this is that physical exfoliate don’t have enough capability irritate the dead skin cells and dirt which clogs your pores, whereas chemical exfoliates do so as they contain beneficial acids. The right exfoliate will unclog you pores, slough off dead skin and will leave your face beaming with a fresh feeling (not a burning feeling!)
Humectants are among the key ingredients to any moisturizer, especially found in the skin care range for dry or dehydrated skin conditions. The role of a humectant is to attract and hold moisture; in fact humectants are capable of holding up to 1000 times their own water weight! Therefore they are water rich chemicals which, more than that their hydration protects the surface layer of your skin (stratum corneam) from becoming dry and patching leading to increased signs of ageing. These humectants will be in the form of; hydracluronic acid, butylene glycol, glycerine, sorbitol seaweed or algae.
So that’s the end of the first part of “Do you really know your face”, it was so important for me to write about skin as I believe it can truly change a person’s life – as simple as it may sound it is hard to find whats right for your skin with so many on offer at the moment, but I promise after these post you’ll not only have your key to unlock the best skincare for your skin but you’ll find out a little about your skinccare that will suprise you !
Check out next weeks post for more skincare tips on becoming a more condident you, and until next time see you lovelies later

My love of makeup, hair and fashion all stemmed from the beloved Bratz dolls, from the first moment I saw the commercial in summer 2004 I was hooked on these new Barbie fashinestas! I loved how each girl had their own individual style, but more than that, they were wearing makeup; and it wasn’t the regular stock standard lipstick and lashes it was much, much more ! When I finally held my own Bratz doll Yazmine, I fell more in love, she was stylish and confident, and everything I wanted to be! From their style, body frame, hair and makeup were like no other, reaching the hearts of many, many girls that weren’t just in early primary! It was about time too, not that anything was or is wrong with the barbie doll but the Bratz doll was a more realistic envision of an actual girl – they had a more realistic body, wore stylish and up to date cloths, their hair and makeup were flawless, they were the envision of both beauty and confidence and so when these young girls or boys played with them, they themselves felt that beautiful and confident.
To feel that beauty and confidence at such a young age is such magical thing, personally it set a bench mark for me to really embody and grow with that inner beauty and confidence. Through the years there were bumps in the road, and you will feel that you can’t feel consistently confident or beautiful; and that’s okay!
This post is all about being embracing your own beautiful, confident, and flawless self, and will be done so in four parts; each part will be centred on how to nurture and to properly treat yourself, therefor igniting that powerful you !
Today I’m divulging all the beauty secrets from the ancient egyptian queens and pharaohs who were the true pioneers of everything beauty, from having a fresh youthful glow to the most eye luring eye look! To look into just that here are some egyptians best known Queen and pharaohs favourite holy grail beauty products.
Just a quick history lesson
~ Alexander the great was highly skilled in handling diplomatic issues and was a military genius, recognised for how he spread Greek culture and language throughout Asia minor, Egypt and India (Hellenistic era) (M.fieds, 2016)
~ Cleopatra came to the throne as her father died, she later ruled with her two brothers. However Cleopatra loved the throne so much so she poisoned her brothers so that she could have the ultimate power. Yikes, Wouldn’t wont to catch her on a bad day! (BBC, 2014)
~ Queen Nifiti, was a pure vision of beauty, her husband was Pharaoh Akhenaten – they began a cult celebrating the sun god (Aten) and introduced to eyjept a radically different type of art work (HISTORY, 2010)
Egyptians prided themselves on being the vision of pure beauty – evidence of this is in their papyrus rolls marked in Georg Ebers and Edwin Smith Papyrus (see for yourself! – http://www.crystalinks.com/egyptmedicine.html). The scrolls shared countless beauty recipes, such as; how to prevent or reduce wrinkles, natural ways to darken hair, and how to preserve or give a healthy, youthful, daily glow to your skin. From which included the famous and beloved honey and milk face wash and the coffee scrub that we still use today! Previously mentioned, during this time goal was to have young, healthy and glowing skin as it showed superiority, so as popularity grew woman from different regions would create their owns renditions of cleansers (instead of it being a daily, they would save it for a special occasion). With every creation the two basic ingredients remained; milk, honey and coffee for the scrubs. The importance of them is that they are detoxing, antibacterial (great for acne or stubborn white/ black heads or pimples) and the gentle lactic acid in the milk soothes fine lines and wrinkles!
Modern twist ~
In 2018 there are thousands of face scrubs and cleansers to choose from, it’s easy to pick out a scrub or cleanser that looks pretty, smells heavenly or is a great deal but it is extremely important to truly evaluate your skin so you can pick the right cleanser and scrub that will properly treat your skin (for more information next weeks post is, do you really know you face?) with that said, my new favourite scrub is by Mario Badescu – Almond & honey face scrub! It’s been two months now and I’m head over heels in love with this scrub, my skin is far clearer, my skin doesn’t look as dull and doesn’t leave your skin feeling tight and inflamed. So when you open the scrub you’ll smell that beautiful honey and almond scent, firstly wet your face then with a penny sized amount gently massage in anup ward motion. Carefully avoid your eye area, as this is the thinnest, most sensitive part of your face. I recommend that you do at night, however it is a perfect wake up scrub!
2. Almond oil as an anti-ageing treatment
During this period essential oils were a beauty staple for all eygeptian royalty, as they provided daily nourishment to the skin giving an instant glow! Their attraction to achieve this look was purely a class thing – looking young and having glowing skin meant that you weren’t out in the field working, even when woman were scribed they were made to look younger. A fun fact is that men were drawn bigger and were mad to look older as a sign of superiority! A way to achieve this was to layer themselves or bath in oils; one that was religiously used was argon oil.
Modern twist ~
Today argan oil can be picked up at your local chemist or beauty store – and the best thing is, is that it’s wont cost you an arm and a leg! The benefits still reign through and are bountiful; they do help moisturise your skin, prevent wrinkles, softens fine lines and will give you an instant glow. Think of your skin as a brick wall, in order to have a perfect wall you need a strong structure and the key to that is the foundation (cement) – if the cement is too dry, it wont be pliable to put together or if there are cracks in the cement then they’ll be fraction in your whole wall. So the best thing to do for your skin is to build and to insure that you have a strong and healthy foundation, so firstly invest in a nourishing face oil, eye cream, face cream, always where a good sunscream and replenish your body with water daily- follow this and I guarantee your face will be beaming.
3 . Crocodile dung body wash/donkey milk.
Mmm yes so how does crocodile poo wash sound to you, or would you rather like the donkey milk bath? Well believe it or not back in the ancient period crocodile dang was quite a luxury and was 100% a true desired beauty cult product! This was because it was enriched with minerals and vitamins that would cleanse and exfoliate the skin –to make it more appealing they would infuse the faeces with oils and flowers to cover the scent .Now to the beautiful donkey milk bath, this milk was highly praised and loved by Cleopatra as she believed it would maintain her beautiful skin and youthful appearance, meanwhile Hippocrates (greek physician) recommended it for health and skin conditions.
Modern twist ~
They were surely onto something; donkey milk is enriched with omega 3, fatty acids, rich volume of phosolipids and protein! These aren’t just fancy words; these are the essential components to flawless, plump and youthful skin. As well as that donkey milk is perfect for conditions such as psoriasis and eczema – like all things, everything should be tested on your skin first as it is as unique as you!
4. Coconut butter in their hair & sugaring.
So having the thickest, darkest hair was a sound of high status and deemed the most desirable for woman, however when it came to legs, arms or other regimes it had to be strictly hairless! To solve this the created and used sugar waxing to become hairless, it was the fastest, easiest and most effective method at that time. The royalties became accustomed to wearing wigs, as they were made from natural hair fibres they were to be nourished as if they were grown from their own scalps. So they were dyed with wild berries, charcoal and lathered in oils to naturally darken the hair as well as giving a shine!
Modern twist ~
Argon oil and other oils of that time are amazing, and I can never sing it praises enough but I believe banana is vastly becoming recognised as a miracle product for damaged hair care! Banana contains Vitamin A, B, E, zinc, amino acids that will strengthen you hair and give it some loving – great for damaged or coloured hair! Now when it comes to sugaring, the best brand on the market is really the tried, test, and the lovely veet natural sugaring!
5. Eye shadow (saffron, kohl, or ground green malachite to outline their eyes)
The eyes are the true key to beauty and the eygeption queens mastered the technique for sure;
Modern twist ~
2. ColourPop- red satin.
3. Maybeline – noire pomade.
So that’s all for today, hope you found out some interesting, new beauty secrets from our beauty queens and pharoahs! if you want to read more up on it there are some links below 🙂
